Tyneside Cinema welcomes one of French cinema's most important filmmakers Agnès Varda to mark the 50th anniversary of her landmark work Cléo from 5 to 7. A contemporary of the French New Wave directors, Varda is a photographer and director whose works span over five decades, from her first film La Pointe Courte (1955) to her most recent feature The Beaches of Agnès (2008). The Tyneside is proud to be screening these and two more of her most influential films Vagabond (1985) and The Gleaners and I (2002), together with a free one day conference about her work. 

Presented in association with Durham University and supported by the the Institut français.
