Feedback from our previous events

June 2018 

Our June event was themed around fundraising for schools and colleges to support filmmaking activity. We shared and discussed tips and tricks for fundraising, what potential fundraising sources to approach and looked together at which fundraising channels and organisations are out there to support film-based activity in schools. Guests included Ellie Turner from Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, and Tyneside Cinema Development Manager Katie Searles. 

May 2018

Our Teachers' Network event on Thursday 10 May 2018 was themed around Into Film’s offers for schools, and we welcomed Bex Wolfendale, Programme Delivery Coordinator at Into Film, as our guest speaker. Bex shared information on the programmes and resources offered by Into Film for primary and secondary schools and colleges. 

March 2018

Our Teachers' Network event on Thursday 8 March 2018 was themed around the process of film editing and post-production and included a brief introduction to the hows and whys of editing a short film.

January 2018

Our Teachers' Network event on Thursday 11th January was themed around planning to make a short film - thank you to everyone who attended

As well as a presentation from Ian Fenton, Tyneside Cinema's Creative Director of Learning & Participation, we welcomed guest speaker Dr Christine Challen who came to speak to the group about how she successful used animation in one of her science lessons with college students. November 2017

Our Teachers' Network event on 9 November focused on developing skills in using phones or tablets to create videos. 

It was a really interesting session and the discussion and feedback was extremely positive. The apps we discussed included the following:

Movie/film apps:

  • Nutshell Camera - instant mini-movies using three photos (Apple only)
  • Videorama - make amazing movies out of photos and videos (Apple only)
  • iMovie – Apple’s flagship programme to create and edit movies. Available on Apple’s App store only
