THE SKIN I LIVE IN sees Pedro Almodóvar toying with science-fiction and horror, and teaming up with Antonio Banderas for the first time in 21 years. The film is based loosely on the novel, Tarantula, by Thierry Jonquet and concentrates on Plastic Surgeon, Robert, as he tries to perfect burn-proof skin. His activities are top secret as he performs his feats on a human guinea-pig, Vera, who he is holding captive. When his housekeeper's son comes to visit their world is turned upside down. Full of Almodóvar's signature use of flashbacks the story unfolds and we become increasingly aware that not everything is what it seems and Robert's troubling past is fast catching up with him.
Starring Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, Roberto Álamo and Blanca Suárez.
