School Of Rock

After being kicked out of his rock band, Dewey Finn (Jack Black) poses as a substitute teacher, named Mr Schneebly, at an elite private elementary school. Strapped for cash, Dewey sees the teaching job as a paid excuse for slacking but is soon won over by the kids. Which gets him thinking: can he turn his class into a rock band?

Cue: rock and roll lessons aplenty – much to the annoyance of the uptight school principle. Three-chord progressions. Keyboards. Bass. Percussion. Dress. Attitude. Stance. Watching and imitating classic rock performers becomes the new curriculum for Mr Shneebly’s music class.

Black is perfect as the rock-obsessed music teacher, with the kids his cool sidekicks. Joan Cusack is worthy of note, as principle Mullins.
