The Post

Nominated for two Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actress.

Steven Spielberg looks set to steal all the headlines during awards season with his outstanding period drama about The Washington Post's investigation of The Pentagon Papers in 1971, starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.

Katharine Graham (Streep) is the first female publisher of a major American newspaper -- The Washington Post. With help from editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), Graham races to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spans three decades and four U.S. presidents.

Together, they must overcome their differences as they risk their careers -- and very freedom -- to help bring long-buried truths to light.

Written by Josh Singer (Spotlight), The Post is an important film for our time, not only addressing questionable politics in the US government and the right for free press, but in Streep's character Graham, a woman finding her voice in a male-dominated society.
