NGCV Green Week

Newcastle Gateshead Cultural Venues are working together on the first Green Week, from Saturday 9 – Sunday 17 September 2017. The week aims to raise awareness of environmental issues, and will focus on five main areas: paper, water, food waste, energy and travel.

Whether you take inspiration from revolting recycled recipes at Seven Stories, use upcycled materials to create a cardboard dinosaur at Life Science Centre or learn about climate change here at the Tyneside Cinema – there’ll be activities and events throughout Newcastle Gateshead for all ages.

Tyneside Cinema's Green Week activities are as follows:

  • A one-off screening for Green Week of An Inconvenient Sequel on Wednesday 13 September
  • Discounted coffee / hot drinks at Vicolo for cyclists on Friday 15 September.
  • Bike Hire discount for cyclists via The Cycle Hub. Throughout September The Cycle Hub on the Quayside will offer 50% off bike hire when you show a Tyneside Cinema ticket. Click here for Cycle Hub details
  • Focus on green initiatives at Tyneside Cinema, with examples posted on our social media throughout the week of our existing green activities
  • During Green Week we will also be launching a new Green Newsletter for all our staff, sharing ideas and suggestions on how to improve environmental awareness and promote more environmentally-friendly actions across the business

As part of Green Week we are asking the public to share ideas about how venues and visitors can be greener. People can enter the NGCV prize draw with prizes to be won for the best ideas, including free tickets to some great shows and activities, shopping vouchers and family passes. Click here to share your green ideas and enter the prize draw. The deadline for ideas submitted is midnight on 17thSeptember.

For more details of individual venue plans see the NGCV News page or individual venue websites.
