Tyneside Cinema's 2017 Artist In Residence Andrea Luka Zimmerman (Civil Rites) returns with Erase And Forget - a new investigative documentary which charts the extraordinary life and times of Bo Gritz, one of America’s highest decorated veterans and the 'inspiration' for Rambo and Brando's Colonel Kurtz.
Using never before seen archive footage of covert US operations, and interviews filmed over a ten year period, Erase And Forget is a compelling inquiry into the nature of human conscience and the limits of deniability, and embodies contemporary American society in all its dizzying complexity and contradictions.
Charting ‘the deep bonds between Hollywood’s fictionalised conflicts and America’s hidden wars’, Erase And Forget provides a complex perspective of an individual and a country in crisis.
‘At the time, Gritz’s actions seemed laughable, but in the age of the ultimate trumped up reality showman (namely Donald Trump), they seem like an early version of the virus that ate our sanity.’ Owen Gleiberman, VARIETY
Erase and Forget opens on Friday 2 March - tickets will be on sale from Tuesday 27 February.
There will also be special screening of Erase and Forget featuring a live Q&A with director Andrea Luka Zimmerman on Sunday 4 March at 14:00. Tickets are now on sale.

'an eerie, quietly disturbing essay film that probes the erasures and edge spaces of the American Dream, the blurry line between fantasy and reality in modern-day US culture, and the sadness and disorientation lying behind the veneer of jingoistic, flag-waving certitude.' Sight and Sound
