Feminist and Anti-racist Activists Pat Garrett and Fazeelat Iqbal will facilitate a guided walk around Newcastle city centre activist hotspots over the last 40 years. The walk will introduce you to a people’s history of the city, the lesser-known stories of revolution and resistance that have gone undocumented. You will learn about the journeys of diverse and marginalised communities, regional socio-political connections and local involvement in trans-national social justice movements including anti-fascist, black feminist and LGBTQI activism. This fascinating insight into the past will hopefully inspire and connect those involved or interested in the history of social justice activism in Newcastle.
The duration of the walk will be approximately 1-1.5hrs and will be an easy walk at a slow pace. The group will meet in the entrance of the Tyneside Cinema at 11am and the walk will finish at the Tyneside Café and Bar at 12.30pm where participants have the opportunity for further discussion over tea and cake.
This event has now sold out.
