The Babadook

Female Trouble. An amazing selection of iconic chillers by female directors will be playing all night in The Electra starting with Jennifer Kent’s monstrously good debut feature film.

Essie Davis stars as a widowed mother who is plagued by the violent death of her husband and struggles with the stresses of being a single mother to their precocious, disturbed and difficult child, Samuel. With the discovery of, Mr Babadook, a creepy pop-up book in his bedroom, Samuel’s fear of The Babadook lurking in the house begins to grow, increasing the stress on his mother but she soon feels a sinister presence all around her.

If it's in a word. Or it's in a look. You can't get rid of The Babadook.
