The Luminaries: Rainer Werner Fassbinder
Join us as we mark our 80th year by celebrating the careers and the impact made by some of the world’s greatest filmmakers.
The miracle child of the New German Cinema, Rainer Werner Fassbinder was one of the most talented, prolific and brutal filmmakers of his generation.
Fassbinder made over forty film in just fifteen years, and while his remarkable career was sadly cut short after he died of an overdose at the age of just 37, the sheer range, quantity and vitality of his work, coupled with the fact that he never lost touch with his innovative, experimental roots has made him a muse to independent filmmakers the world over.
