Lost In Space
Inspired by the upcoming release of First Man, the new film from La La Land director Damien Chazelle that chronicles the mission of Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) to become the first person to walk on the moon – join the Tyneside Cinema for a special season of films that celebrate what it means to be lost in space, from tales of intrepid human astronauts (Apollo 13, The Right Stuff, Silent Running) to the possibility of making contact with alien life (Contact, Solaris); and from androgynous beings visiting humankind (Nic Roeg’s The Man Who Fell To Earth, starring David Bowie) to star-hopping adventures of both the countercultural and afro-futurist variety in Barbarella and Sun Ra’s little-seen Space Is The Place. A cinematic tribute to the Space Men and Woman on film, in all their many forms.
