Harriet Plewis: Loving Attention

The Gallery at Tyneside Cinema will become an informal viewing-and-moving-space; a living room in which audiences are invited to watch films, lie down and listen close for a programme of film screenings, group visualisation and listening activities, and live performance. Punctuating the programme are films developed by Plewis with Deborah Bower during Reading Room: meeting the universe halfway (Sunderland, 2018), a series of events that translated philosopher-physicist Karen Barad’s book Meeting The Universe Halfway: Quantum Physics and the Entanglement of Matter and MeaningAlongside the Reading Room films, moving image works by The Otolith Group, Alex Martinis Roe, Anna Lucas and Rehana Zaman will amplify themes around life-wide learning and feminism. Group activities led by Plewis will draw on and inform the screenings in turn. The day will finish with an evening gig of songs from Reading Room: meeting the universe halfway. Food and drink will be provided and is included in the day ticket.

Selected as part of the Projections open call.
