Tyneside Bar Café included in The Good Food Guide 2018

Posted in Cinema News, Food and Drink on Sep 07, 2017

UPDATE: we are incredibly proud that Tyneside Bar Cafe is one of the only venues in Newcastle to be included in the 2018 editions of both the Waitrose Good Food Guide and also CAMRA's Good Beer Guide!

Staff at the Tyneside Bar Café are delighted to be included for the first time in The Good Food Guide.

Tyneside Bar Café is one of only fourteen restaurants in Newcastle to be included in the 2018 edition of the Guide. The Bar Cafe was specifically cited in the ‘Readers Recommend’ entry for ‘clever and delicious’ food.

The restaurants included in The Good Food Guide are the very best in the UK, and to be included a restaurant must have a clear and clean recommendation from both the Guide’s team of anonymous inspectors and members of the general public. The latest edition of the Guide was published by Waitrose on 4 September 2017.

Tom Adlam, Chef Manager of Tyneside Bar Café, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that we have been included in the new edition of The Good Food Guide. We have had this ambition since opening, and I’m particularly pleased that our passion for sourcing the finest ingredients was recognised.”

He added: “The GFG is the only UK restaurant guide which requires customer recommendations before even considering a restaurant for an entry, so first and foremost I’d like to thank our customers who made this success possible. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to all our team for their contribution to our entry in this year’s edition”.

The success comes as Tyneside Bar Café seeks a new Executive Chef Manager, with Tom Adlam leaving later this year to work at Fenwick department store in Newcastle.

Phil Scales, Head of Operations at Tyneside Cinema, said: “Our Chef Manager Tom was offered an amazing opportunity at Fenwick but I know it was a hugely difficult decision for him to leave Tyneside Bar Café - and I’m sure it will be even more difficult now that we have been included in The Good Food Guide”.

He added “With the calibre of our team I know Tom is leaving the Bar Café in very good hands, and I hope we’ll see him back here soon as a customer”.

Alongside the finest dining establishments in the country, The Good Food Guide, published by Waitrose, celebrates quality eateries and discoveries in local areas.

The GFG is compiled by combining reader feedback on restaurants up and down the country with anonymous inspections by a team of industry experts. Find out more at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk.
