Tyneside Cinema welcomes our new Northumbria University Graduate Artist in Residence, Cat Auburn.
Cat is spending three months with us to explore the Cinema’s context as well as to explore and develop her current practice. We will support her in developing a new commission leading to an exhibition in The Gallery from 19th January 2017.
Exhibition: Cat Auburn – Preparing the Ground
Preview: 18 January, 17:30 – 19:30
Free in The Gallery, Tyneside Cinema, from 19 January – 12 March 2017
Our current Graduate Artist in Residence Cat Auburn has developed this new commission in close partnership with Tyneside Cinema and Northumbria University.
Taking as the starting point the act of 'preparing the ground' from which the show takes its title, she has explored actions and narratives filming at three locations, the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art in Glasgow and the North East's Dunstanburgh Castle.
You can also see Cat’s work on selected nights on Tyneside Cinema’s Pop-Up Film School window throughout the exhibition.
A fabulous space for creative thinking! The [Headspace] room provides all the space and facilities needed with great, friendly staff and amazing food.
