British and Japanese fantasy collide with this exquisite adaptation of Mary Norton’s classic novel The Borrowers, from those wonderful people at Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle). Moving the action from England to Japan, the story revolves around the Clocks, a family of tiny people who live in the homes of big people and ‘borrow’ items in order to survive whilst keeping their existence unknown.

However, life changes for the Clocks when a Sho, a human boy, discovers their 14-year-old daughter Arrietty. Mixing Ghibli’s freewheeling surrealism with this much-loved tale is a stroke of genius, with the studio creating a divine adaptation that will bean absolute pleasure for fans of both the book and of Japanese animation.

Please note that Children's Film Club screenings now start at the earlier time of 10.30am.
