A German émigré family arrives in Kenya shortly before the Second World War, but not all of them adapt to the challenges of their new life.
Based on Stefanie Zweig’s novel, the film won an Oscar for its powerful representation of a family forced to face up to a changing world and the impact this has on their relationships. Beautifully photographed, this is an enhanced Out Of Africa experience that, as much as the action takes place in Kenya, also remains deeply rooted in a Germany that is never completely left behind.
