24 Hour Comic Challenge
Live video streams, chat boxes and photo updates from throughout the challenge!
Independent press organisation P.R.E.S.S teams up with the Tyneside to deliver an exciting 24 hour event! The 24 hour comic challenge began in 1990 in the US as a dare between graphic novelists Scott McCloud and Steve Bissette.
It has since grown to a worldwide phenomenon and a popular exercise for artists and writers. We’ll be testing participants to their limits with this special challenge; to create a 24 page comic book in 24 hours. The story, the artwork, and the lettering will all be completed in the time allowed – by 10am Sunday morning!
FREE drop-in sessions throughout the day
While places for the 24 hour challenge have been filled, there will be a number of drop-in sessions available during the day on Saturday 13th.
No previous experience is necessary, only enthusiasm and ideas. Comic artists and graphic designers will be on hand to assist, all in the friendly atmosphere of the Tyneside Bar. You can also check in on our 24 hour challengers to see how they’re getting on!
The sessions include mobile phone drawing workshops with Artist Derrick Welsh, on-the-spot ’24 minute comic challenges’ and Drink and Draw Activities at night. Just sign up in the Tyneside Bar when you arrive as places are limited:
Mobile Drawing Workshops (1.00pm and 2.30pm)
24 Minute Comic Challenge (1.45pm and 3.15pm)
Drink and Draw Activities (From 7.30pm)
Make sure you come back here on Saturday to check out the live video streaming of the challenge. A round the clock creative event, not to be missed!
