Tyneside Cinema has a long history of engaging with schools and colleges across the region, both through our screening programme and special events at the cinema and, more recently, with outreach screenings and filmmaking projects.

This event will explore production, distribution and exhibition in the UK through a case study of a recent British film. There will be a full screening of An Education (UK 2009) and a presentation and discussion exploring how the film came to be made and how it was released.

The event will be suitable for all AS/A2 Film and Media Studies as well as students on vocational media courses, including the Diploma. Led by film tutor Roy Stafford, author of Understanding Audiences And The Film Industry (bfi, 2007).

Study Days For Students Of Modern Foreign Languages

We’re delighted to announce more study days for students of modern foreign languages brought to you in partnership with Routes Into Languages North East. Using a full screening of a film in the target language, these events address contemporary culture and society. The films will also be used as a basis for speaking and listening exercises, discussion and role-play, providing loads of opportunities to get your students up and talking! Resources are provided for both pre-and post-event activities.
