Engaging with schools and colleges across the region
Tyneside Cinema has a long history of engaging with schools and colleges across the region, both through our screening programme and special events at the cinema and, more recently, with outreach screenings and filmmaking projects.
We work with young people from ages 4 to 19 through our schools and colleges programme. Opportunities to get involved at our newly reopened Pilgrim Street site include:
- Talks and tours of the newly restored building
- Discount tickets for school groups attending our film screenings
- Study Days for students and teachers of Film and Media Studies
- Study Days for students and teachers of Modern Foreign Languages
- Study Days for teachers and students of English As A Second Language
- InSET sessions on using film and the moving image in the classroom
- Special school screenings
- Industry events, introducing pupils to the professional film world
- Northern Lights Film Festival and AV Festival Education programmes
- Practical filmmaking workshops and longer-term projects
Full details of up and coming events are listed below and in our Schools Newsletter.
If you would like more details of about any of our activities, have an idea for a particular film-related event that you would like to discuss with us or would simply like to be added to our Schools Newsletter mailing list, please contact Mike Tait on 0191 227 5510.
