The Coen Brothers return with one of their best and most personal films to date. Set in 1967, this oddball, period black comedy/drama about Jewish suburban angst tells the story of Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg), a college professor and family man whose life is about to fall apart. His job is looking shaky, his kids are indifferent to him, his unemployed brother is living on his couch, and his wife is about to leave him. Struggling to cope, Larry seeks advice from three Rabbis in hope that they will help him with his afflictions and become a serious man. Dazzling, profound and very, very funny.

A road movie set entirely in a flat doesn't sound like it should work, but in the hands of The Mighty Boosh director Paul King, this extraordinary idea is brilliantly realised. Starring some of the most exciting talent the British comedy world currently has to offer, including The Mighty Boosh’s very own Noel Fielding and Julian Barrett, as well as Richard Ayoade of The IT Crowd, Bunny And The Bull is a surreal, visually mouthwatering journey. Stephen (Edward Hogg), is a young loner who hasn’t been outside in months. Bored of the dull routine of life, he finds his mind hurtling back to his disastrous trek around Europe with his friend Bunny (Simon Farnaby) and a catalogue of adventures unfold. A brilliant mixture of surreal humour and inventive storytelling, showcasing King as an exciting bit of British talent.

Steven Soderbergh and Matt Damon (The Bourne trilogy) team up again for this hilarious adaptation of Kurt Elchenwald’s book The Informant (A True Story). Mark Whitacre (Damon) is a rising star at agricultural-industry giant ADM who turns whistleblower for the FBI to expose his company’s price-fixing shananigans. Unfortunately for the FBI, their lead witness hasn't been quite so forthcoming about helping himself to the corporate coffers, and Whitacre’s ever-changing account frustrates the agents and threatens the case, as it becomes almost impossible to decipher what is real and what is the product of Whitacre’s active imagination. A wonderfully funny and original film with a charismatic turn from Damon.

Ingenious and ambitious, playwright, TV and film director Stephen Poliakoff’s stunning WW2 based film unites a top-notch cast (including Julie Christie, Jeremy Northam, Christopher Lee and David Tennant) for an elegantly crafted tale of dramatic menace. War is imminent and the aristocratic Keyes family are living a perfect life in the country as England teeters on the brink of global conflict. Alexander (Bill Nighy) is an influential MP and good father to his three children, and his eldest adopted daughter Ann (Romola Garai) is the life and soul of the family. But as the international situation escalates and the family moves back to London, Ann discovers secret recordings and she finds herself amidst a series of unfolding revelations and disappearances that will change the life of her family – and the country – forever. Unmissable.

Touching, funny and sad stories of faith and devotion from around the world are told in this brilliant documentary from Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller and Nicholas Abrahams. In Russia, May 9 is Victory Day, a national holiday. It’s also the birthday of Dave Gahan, lead singer with Depeche Mode, and a group of Muscovite fans have declared it Dave Day, gathering together to celebrate the group with singalongs and club nights. In the countries of the former USSR, Depeche Mode’s music has been treasured since it was only available on illegal cassettes in the 1980s. In Tehran, fans take huge risks in listening to their music in a country that has banned all Western music; in Mexico, fans have seized upon religious inferences in the band’s work, and even in the UK the church of St. Edward King and Martyr in Cambridge holds services for goths where they play Depeche Mode records.

This is the story of 14 year-old Benny who, growing up in an empty middle class environment, gradually immerses himself in the world of home video recording. When Benny invites a girl home to re-enact his favourite video, things take a very nasty turn…. This drama explores the difficulties of family life, our growing dependence on technology (especially now, 17 years on!), and how morality and self-interest can become inexplicably entwined. The second part of Haneke’s ‘Glaciation Trilogy’ also including The Seventh Continent (1989) and 71 Fragments Of Chronology Of Chance (1994).

After wowing us with the fantastic Hidden, controversial Austrian director Michael Haneke returns with this Palme d’Or winning masterpiece. Shot in stark black and white with no musical score, The White Ribbon is set in a small German village just before World War I in a small German Village that is experiencing a number of unexplained accidents beset upon the community’s schoolchildren and their parents. At first they are passed off as coincidence, but as these misdeeds turn into genuine atrocities, the residents begin to mistrust one another.
Haneke once again crafts a film that leaves us with more questions than answers, but is all the more intriguing for it, with stunning cinematography and a powerful theme, this is the master director on top form, proving why he is one of Europe’s best.

Gateshead-born screenwriter Peter Straughan teams up with director Grant Heslov for this wildly entertaining film version of Jon Ronson’s book starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey. The film follows reporter, Bob Wilton (McGregor), who stumbles into the story of a lifetime when he meets special forces agent, Lyn Cassady (Clooney). Lyn reveals his twenty-year involvement in a top secret, psychic military unit and shares details of their activities, each more bizarre than the last (including staring at goats in order to kill them telepathically). The film is just as unconventional as the title suggests, marrying an amazing cast with a wonderfully screwy story, very much in the vein of Dr. Strangelove and classic Coen Brothers.
